DoSavannah article

That’s me in our local paper’s DoSavannah section, which features local music and happenings each week.

No big deal.

Haha, jk. It’s weird though, because this is the first time I’ve really put my work out there locally. My books have been in several local bookstores, but unless someone just walked in there, they would have no idea my books exist.

Sad, I know.

But now, “real” people know about my books, not just “internet” people. (No offense.)

Anyways, this was a really cool start to the new year and as I get back on track with A New Daybreak, this really gives me motivation to press forward. I just shared the Prologue with my email list (which you should join by the way and get a free ebook) and will continue to share sneak peeks with them until release day.

You can read the article here and you should probably share it on social media, because it’s 2016 people and that means it’s the future.

The future people.

Alright, now back to writing.

So, how’s it going?

(pauses for effect)

That good, huh? Well, I’m doing FANTASTIC!

Last year, I attended the Savannah Zombie Walk, but the event was moved to April, so I will be doing a book signing on Halloween instead. It will be at E. Shaver, Bookseller, which is a cool local bookstore in downtown Savannah. (I say cool, because there are other local bookstores, who are, um… not so cool.)

Anyways, from 3-5 PM on October 31st, I will be hanging out at the bookstore which is located at 326 Bull St. Come stop by, pick up an autographed copy of A New Death, and just hang out with some cool book people!

Author Update 8/22/2015

Posted: August 22, 2015 in Author Blog, Updates

Hey everybody, just posting real quick to say I will be taking a break from most things internet in order to refocus areas of my life.

So, I’ll pretty much be posting the same amount of content that I normally do.

Which isn’t much, or any for that matter.

So, just keep on doing what your doing!

Not reading my stuff because I don’t post stuff!

I’ll still be working on more books, so if you want updates on that, scroll up to the menu on the top of this page and click the FREE BOOK link. It’ll take you to my email newsletter sign-up and oh, you’ll get a free book!

So that’s cool right?

*crickets*

Okay then, well so long then and see you whenever!

Josh

Hey, I finally got around to finishing all three parts of A New Death: CJ’s Story audiobook! Here’s all three parts! Enjoy!

Josh

Non-Kindle owners rejoice!

The first book in the Savannah Zombie Novel series is now available for both Barnes & Noble’s Nook and Kobo’s line of eReaders!

A New Death is no longer Kindle-exclusive, so now more people can get in on the Savannah Zombie action!

The rest of the series will be making its way soon! And if you can’t wait until then, don’t forget you can always buy the paperback versions!

Ok, so I didn’t just submit my book to the Tybee Island Book Festival.

But I did do so in the last week.

Pretty excited about a local book festival that includes both traditionally published and self-published authors. We have the Savannah Book Festival here every year, but as of right now, they only except traditionally published authors.

Which is kinda funny to me, because two years ago, they had Hugh Howey, who is one of the more well-known self-publishers. In fact, his self-publishing career is what led to him getting a traditional type publisher, but I digress.

I don’t have too many details on how I’ll be envolved with the festival, but I will keep everyone posted.

Josh

Jeez, I might need to work on that title. That is not a sexy blog title. Hmm, oh well…

Anyways, here’s the deal: I got a promotion at my “day” job, so I’ve been working crazy hours. (I clocked in nearly 58 last week.) These crazy hours have left me crazy tired, but I haven’t had much time to rest.

You see, my wife and I are expecting a little girl next month! We have been very busy trying to get ready for her arrival, but life keeps getting in the way! Here’s the quick rundown: wrecked our car, moved into new apartment, apartment infested with fleas, killed all the fleas, unpack everything, set up nursery, look for new car, try to get loan for said car, finally get loan for car, all on top of working 55+ hours a week, getting maybe 4-5 hours of sleep at night.

All while trying to publish my next short story.

Well, needless to say, you know which one fell to the wayside.

BUT…

It’s finally done!

Lexx’s Story is now available on Amazon!

My apologies for taking so long, but when you’re a one man show, you gotta know when to say “It will just have to wait.”

So here’s my proposition:

The cost of Lexx’s Story is 99 cents, BUT you can get it for FREE!

All you have to do is email me or tweet a screenshot of your review for ANY of the other three Savannah Zombie Novel books and I will send you a free ebook copy of Lexx’s Story.

Sound good?

Cool, my email is beencalled (a) gmail (dot) com. Send me screenshot or link to your review and I’ll send you Lexx’s Story.

Want to be super trendy and tweet it?

Tweet: “Check out my review of @SavZombieNovel” with the link or photo of your review and I’ll DM you the copy of the book. (I think you have to be follower for me to DM you.)

OR

You can just buy it for 99 cents. That works too. (Did I mention I was about to have a baby?)

A New Death Cover 2.0

Right now you can get Book 1 in the Savannah Zombie Novel Series for FREE on your Amazon Kindle!

This promo will last for FIVE days, so now would be a good time to pick it up if you haven’t read it yet! If you have, then now would be a great time to tell your friends!

Here’s what some readers have said about A New Death on Amazon:

“When you read A New Death,I think you will be shocked to learn that it is the authors first novel. The story is well written and has a good quick pace. It is surprisingly upbeat for a zombie apocalypse novel. I enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.” -J. Meister

“I can’t believe this is the authors first book. Very well written and flowed great. You Mr. Vasquez are a gifted story teller. I really enjoyed the character development, I could not put this book down I think this is the fastest I’ve read a book.”- Jesse E.

“Josh Vasquez has done a fine job for his first effort. The characters grab your attention and pull you along with them. This is very much a character driven tale and it works well. Plenty of zombie action and questions to answer. I am looking forward to the next installment.” – Belle Rouge

“Easy to read and entertaining. Fast moving. I Looking forward to the next book! Perhaps the Bible talk may be a turn off for some but so far it was tolerable.” – Amazon Customer

“one of the better zombie books I’ve read in awhile! fast paced, great characters…Loved lexx! really hope there is a sequel!! hoping for more from this author!” – Lisa Cook

“This is a bit different from other zombie books. There are the usual slow ones and some runners. What makes it different is that the bitten change into muscle bound rage monsters. While this not the best book I have ever read it certainly isn’t the worst. It’s a good first book.” – ladyboss230

“Josh Vasquez obviously found his calling in writing a zombie novel, keep up the great work!! A can’t put down read!” – Debra Ryan

That’s just a few people’s opinion. You can make yours by either clicking the picture above or by clicking here.

I hope y’all enjoy!

Josh

Hey everybody!

A little update before I take my Sunday afternoon nap before work tonight. (I work Sunday nights 9 to whenever we finish at my “real” job.)

First off, check out the new cover for CJ’s Story:

CJStory_NewCover.jpg

It now matches the cover for the new Lexx’s Story that drops the end of this week. I felt like it needed some updating, plus now it matches. I like the way it looks. The text is big, it’s simple, and it features the “Savannah Zombie” tagline, connecting better to the rest of the series. Amazon is in the process of updating it now. What do you think?

Second, I will be running a free promo on A New Death this week.

Yes, I said free.

So if you’ve read book one in the Savannah Zombie series, now’s a good time to tell your friends to check it out! Or if you haven’t read it, now’s a great time for you to check it out! My reasons for giving my work away for free is twofold:

1. To get my work out there and find new readers. Being self published, I feel like this is a great way to introduce my writing to new people.

2. I’m really hoping for some new reviews. If you download it during the promo, (or if you have already read it) please consider leaving a review. Reviews really help other readers decide whether or not a book is worth checking out. In a nutshell: the more reviews, the more a book gets noticed.

Well, that’s it for now. Time to go get some sleep before tonight shift!

Josh

Well, I should be.

But I’m actually blogging about editing.

So, like… whatever.

Anyways, I’m making the first pass of edits through Lexx’s Story. Right now it’s all copy-editing and some sentence rearranging. When I edit, I like to knock out the simple stuff first (spelling, grammar, punctuation) and then move on to things like context and content. The first draft is normally for my eyes only, the second only gets seen by beta readers, and the third, well the third is the final, so everybody sees that.

And I mean everybody. (If you haven’t, then you ain’t everybody, and trust me. You want to be everybody.)

That being said, I’d like to open the door for some new beta readers. If you would be interested in receiving an ARC (advanced reader copy), there’s a couple things you gotta do:

1. You have to at least read the rest of the Savannah Zombie Novel series. Lexx’s Story will not make as much sense if you have not read the others.

2. It would be really helpful if you have REVIEWED at least ONE of my other works.

3. Lastly, I would appreciate you posting a review of Lexx’s Story when it releases. Those first reviews are critical for my books to gain any kind of traction and they help other readers know what to expect.

If you are interested in becoming a beta reader, email me at beencalled(at)gmail(dot)com

I will send you an advanced copy of Lexx’s Story and will also open the door for future works. (Book 3 anyone?)

Ok.

Back to work.

Josh
