Ho, ho, ho-ley crap!

Thanksgiving and the Christmas season are upon us already!

Man, this year has flown by! It’s hard to believe that December is just a few days away.

I have been wanting to write a seasonal series of stories for a couple years now, but have never seemed to find the time.

Well, I chose to buckle down and use the spirit of NaNoWriMo this year and finally get to work!

I’ve known for a while the series title, North Pole Zombies, and the basic plot line:

Santa’s elves turn into zombies and Santa’s got to put them all down.

But in this past year, I really pinned down the story and it came to life in these past few frantic NaNoWriMo weeks.

And I got to say:

It’s freaking awesome.

It has been so much fun to write and to craft this story’s world and characters.

Oh man, the characters.

One of my favorite things about writing is when you fall in love with a character that you thought was just a supportive role, but turns out to be such an intregal part of the story.

I’m super excited about a character for Part 2 of the series, but I won’t dive too deep into him, because, you know, spoilers…

So, North Pole Zombies is being released this Black Friday. (You can pre-order it now, though.)

If I could describe it simply, it’s like a mix between DOOM, The Evil Dead, and those claymation Christmas specials that come on ABC Family, or whatever that channel is called nowadays. You know the one.

It’s funny, it’s heartwarming, it’s action-packed.

And mostly, it’s just fun.

It was refreshing to just be kind of silly and write this outlandish short story. To take a break from the bleakness of the world and just have fun with it.

The story follows Nicholas Klaus, the Bringer of Gifts, as he prepares for the Christmas season. After visiting “down South” he returns to the North Pole to find out a mysterious sickness has overcome the elf population. What follows throws Klaus back into a life he had long put behind him…

If you need something to read while you’re standing in line this Black Friday, or just want to read something fun to start getting into the Christmas spirit, check out North Pole Zombies!

Happy Holidays everyone,

The rest of the series will be making its way soon! And if you can’t wait until then, don’t forget you can always buy the paperback versions!

Jeez, I might need to work on that title. That is not a sexy blog title. Hmm, oh well…

Anyways, here’s the deal: I got a promotion at my “day” job, so I’ve been working crazy hours. (I clocked in nearly 58 last week.) These crazy hours have left me crazy tired, but I haven’t had much time to rest.

You see, my wife and I are expecting a little girl next month! We have been very busy trying to get ready for her arrival, but life keeps getting in the way! Here’s the quick rundown: wrecked our car, moved into new apartment, apartment infested with fleas, killed all the fleas, unpack everything, set up nursery, look for new car, try to get loan for said car, finally get loan for car, all on top of working 55+ hours a week, getting maybe 4-5 hours of sleep at night.

All while trying to publish my next short story.

Well, needless to say, you know which one fell to the wayside.

BUT…

It’s finally done!

Lexx’s Story is now available on Amazon!

My apologies for taking so long, but when you’re a one man show, you gotta know when to say “It will just have to wait.”

So here’s my proposition:

The cost of Lexx’s Story is 99 cents, BUT you can get it for FREE!

All you have to do is email me or tweet a screenshot of your review for ANY of the other three Savannah Zombie Novel books and I will send you a free ebook copy of Lexx’s Story.

Sound good?

Cool, my email is beencalled (a) gmail (dot) com. Send me screenshot or link to your review and I’ll send you Lexx’s Story.

Want to be super trendy and tweet it?

Tweet: “Check out my review of @SavZombieNovel” with the link or photo of your review and I’ll DM you the copy of the book. (I think you have to be follower for me to DM you.)

OR

You can just buy it for 99 cents. That works too. (Did I mention I was about to have a baby?)

New Short Story Next Month!

Posted: March 1, 2015 in Book Release

So, I teased this on twitter over a week ago here and totally did not follow through on it. (I also just used the word “totally” like a teenage girl from the 90’s, but I digress.)

My bad.

Things got busy at my “day” job (fork lift operator) and most of my spare time went towards sleeping.

Anyways, this is what I’ve been working on and I’m almost done with it. I’m aiming for a mid month release and maybe some sort of promotion before hand. (Possibly something for free. Free is always nice…)

A get a lot of people telling me how much they like Lexx and so it only seemed right, especially with the way A New Darkness ended, that the next short story would be Lexx-focused.

I’ve had a lot of fun writing this and can’t wait to hear what everyone thinks.

Speaking of hearing what you think, I always appreciate when readers leave reviews on Amazon or Goodreads. For one, it helps other readers know if my books are worth checking out or not. And for twosies, they mean a lot to me. It’s super cool to hear what y’all think about the world and characters that I’ve created. Thanks for taking the time to do that. And if you haven’t, now would be a great time!

Hey everybody, just wanted to give a quick update and let you know what I’m up to.

First, A New Darkness releases on Kindle this Saturday! You can still pre-order it and save 33% on this weekend’s price and 66% on list price. If you haven’t yet, go and get it here.

Maybe you’re like, “I still haven’t read A New Death yet.” Well, good for you, A New Death is on sale until Saturday! Get it for $1.99 here!

Or maybe you like paper. (Who doesn’t? Books smell amazing.) Well, good news for you, I’ve made some updates to the paperback version of A New Death and started work on the A New Darkness paperback this week. So both of those will be live in the next couple of weeks.

And lastly, I don’t normally do too much promotion leading up to book launch (one of my weak points) but this time around, I’m trying something new.

It’s called Thunderclap. Thunderclap works like this: You go and hook up your social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr) to my Thunderclap promotion. Then on Saturday at noon, Thunderclap will blast out a message featuring my book and link through all of our social media accounts. Pretty cool, right? The only catch is I have to get full support or else the message won’t go out.

As of right now, I’m at 14 out of 100 supporters. With only 14 people signed on, it already has a reach of 4313 people. Can you imagine if we get all 100?

I’ve done this before and have never received any junk mail from it, or any emails afterwards. It’s an extremely easy way to help support me. All you have to do is give up one tweet or status update on Saturday.

100 people is an easily reached number. We can do this. Sign up here.

Thank you so much for the support and I look forward to hearing what you have to say about A New Darkness!

Hey everyone!

So, it’s only a handful of days until I turn in the final manuscript for A New Darkness and I’m working on the finishing touches.

One of which is the cover. For the cover of A New Death, Xavier Martinez came up with the design, and I thought he did an awesome job, so I asked him to do it again.

And he came through.

Problem is, he made too many awesome covers and now I can’t decide which one I like more!

So, let’s put it to a vote!

Tell me which is your favorite and whichever cover gets more votes, that will be the cover for A New Darkness!

Here they are:
